How to Apply The Bepko Scholars and Fellows Program is a highly selective program. Approximately 20 scholars are admitted each year. To be eligible for consideration, you must: - Apply as a freshman (transfer and graduate students are not eligible for this award).
- Apply for the fall semester. Awards are not available to students who begin their studies in the spring or summer.
Admission is based on a variety of factors: strength of the academic curriculum in secondary school, rank, standardized test results, grade trends, and demonstrated commitment to civic engagement. An overview of our current students highlights the academic characteristics of a Bepko Scholar. To be considered, you must: - Apply by December 1.
- If you are also applying for the Honors Professional Admissions Program, please use the Bepko Scholars and Fellows Application Form and indicate your interest in the HPA in the box provided.
- Submit official high school transcript(s)* and SAT or ACT results.
- Submit four letters of recommendation* from:
- Your high school guidance counselor
- Your principal
- A teacher familiar with your academic work
- A personal reference from an unrelated individual
- Submit a sample of your academic work that best represents your academic abilities and preparation for university study.
- Submit two statements:
- One describing your commitment to and passion for your chosen field of study.
Note: If you are also applying for the Honors Professional Admissions Program, you should use the essay required for that program in place of the above statement. Information is available at honorscollege.iupui.edu/hpap - One discussing the impact civic engagement has had on you and your worldview.
- Semi-finalists for the award will also be interviewed by IUPUI faculty and staff in January.
*A note for homeschooled students: submit documentation of your home school educational program in lieu of official transcripts. A letter of recommendation from someone familiar with your academic work and three letters of recommendation from unrelated individuals are required. Scholarship decisions will be available by February 15. Note: Before a scholarship offer can be extended, students must also be admitted to the university. U.S. citizens and permanent residents who completed their final year of secondary school in the U.S. should apply via the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. International students (anyone requiring a visa to enter the U.S.), or permanent residents with less than one year of study in the U.S. should apply via the Office of International Affairs.
